May 13: Espana - Mallorca Sunrise

Dawn. I am sitting on cool, course sand at the small deserted cove called Cala d'Or near my hotel. There is only me here, and there is one star left in the lavender sky. A cool breeze comes down to join the waiting audience. It brings with it the scent of nearby pine trees, whispering like a spirit at peace. The waters of the Mediterranean are calm, half asleep. A second before the light begins to rise, a lone voice enters the silence. The morning song of a blackbird echoes down beside me and sings in concert with the peaceful beauty of the sunrise. Then, a sunshaft arrows over oceans to meet me, leaving a glittering path of skipping sunshine twinkling on the moving water. In an instant, I am once again hopelessy in love with Spain.
